Captain Harry Butler
Red Devil Memorial
A major attraction in Minlaton is the Captain Harry Butler Red Devil Memorial, which has the extraordinary Red Devil preserved inside.
Captain Harry Butler purchased this plan from the British Government and shipped it to South Australia in 1919 and used it to carry airmail from Adelaide to his hometown of Minlaton SA 5575
HJ Cook Fauna Park
is situated across the road from the Caravan Park and adjacent to the Captain Harry Butler Red Devil Memorial. It is home to a wide variety of kangaroos, wallabies and emus. Plenty of shady areas provide excellent picnic opportunities.
National Trust SA Minlaton Museum
Built about 1889 the Museum reflects the history of the settlement days and pioneering community. The Museum located in part of an old General Store built about 1889 has on display historic and photographic records of the Minlaton District Council, Schools and Churches in and around the area. The Museum is gathering a collection of ‘eulogies’ and ‘genealogies’ of past and notable residents and several locally written published works and maintains a room dedicated to documents and artefacts of our local aviation hero – Captain Harry Butler.
